The five-asset water response method

Hotel engineering selects five critical water control points for its own property. For each point, the team records the control area, floor or location, a current photo, location or GPS information and operating steps. A timed scenario then tests whether someone who is not the building expert can find the correct point and begin the appropriate action.

The result is a baseline for time to locate, procedure access, time to first correct action and differences by shift or role. Retest after training or changes to the property.

Discuss a five-asset assessment
  1. 01
    Select

Choose control points that matter at this property.

  2. 02
    Document

Capture the exact place, image and operating steps.

  3. 03
    Test

    Time a realistic after-hours response.

  4. 04
    Verify

Confirm the correct asset and first action.

  5. 05
    Improve

Assign gaps and retest after changes.

Make readiness measurable

Put your first five minutes to the test.

Start with critical assets, clear responsibilities and a timed exercise your team can repeat across properties.
